OUR STORY

It all began with prayer and an email.

Welcome to The Ridge!

We’re Chris and Heather LoCurto. What started out as a hunt to find 10 acres with a garden and some chickens has now become an endeavor to create a place where people can come to find healing and hope.

A little back story…Chris and I both struggle with health issues. Chris has heavy lead toxicity in his body and I have lyme disease. Soon after we were married, we embarked on a journey to find a small piece of property because we wanted to know where our food was coming from. It was getting harder and harder to find good quality nutrient dense foods at the grocery stores, and we needed to be proactive with our health.

When we found The Ridge, we quickly realized that God was doing something much, MUCH bigger!

Harvesting Healing and Hope

The land soon became a place of gathering. A place of fellowship and community. A place that you could take a walk through the woods, a stroll next to the stream, a nap under the tall oak tree. A place to breathe, to unplug, and exhale. A place to restore lost things.

In 2021, we embarked on a journey to turn the 55 acres of undeveloped land with nothing more than a barn and water into a thriving farm. We began the endeavor of regeneration, bringing life, nutrients, and biodiversity back to the land. Our hope is to be able to provide a safe haven for people to come, rest, find solitude, and grow closer in their relationship with God.

The Process

We have a saying around here, “Welcome to The Ridge!”

We had no idea how to farm. We weren’t farmers. Neither one of us grew up on a farm. It was all new, and things happened. Things like chiggers (nasty little bugs), predators, broken equipment, a skid steer getting stuck on the side of a hill, trailers that come loose and roll down the hill, a t-post that led to a trip to the ER, the list goes on.

Unexpected things around here happened, and so when it did, all we would say with a grin on our face was, “well, welcome to The Ridge”!

We knew that it wasn’t going to be easy. It still isn’t. It’s hard, it’s tough, but it’s so worth it.

It takes a village.

Today, along with our amazing team, we are reawakening this land. Every animal has a purpose. The cows, the sheep, the goats, the chickens, the guinea’s, the garden, even the bees all play a part in regenerating the soil.

This is an adventure, and yes, it comes with its fair share of trials and tribulations but it always ends with hope.

Follow along with our journey…..harvesting healing and hope.
